Stereo Amplifier Guide: MNCx500, M6525 and M9040

STEREO · MODEL COMPARISON

Choose around your speakers, source and space.

Compare Maroon Audio’s three two-channel power amplifiers, then check the edition on the product page or ask us to review your system.

All three accept balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog inputs. They require a preamp, a DAC with volume control, or another source with adjustable analog output.

Three things to check first

  1. Speakers and listening levelSpeaker sensitivity, minimum impedance, listening distance and desired peaks help establish the output you need. A speaker’s wattage label alone does not select the amplifier.
  2. Source and volume controlCheck whether your preamp or DAC has XLR or RCA output, adjustable volume and enough output voltage for the intended gain. These are power amplifiers with no volume control.
  3. Space and mains voltageCheck chassis dimensions, connections and ventilation space. Each model is preset for 110V or 220V before shipment; voltage does not switch automatically.

1. Power figures and their limits. MNCx500 and M6525 figures are the published maximum complete-amplifier specifications per channel, with both channels driven, as listed on their product pages and printed manuals. They are not an independent measurement report or a guarantee of sustained full-bandwidth output. M9040’s current page does not publish an equivalent complete-amplifier output table; we have not substituted module datasheet figures. Ask us to confirm load, channels driven, frequency, distortion limit and duration for the output you need.

2. Allow room for the connections. Chassis sizes exclude approximately 20 mm feet and 30 mm rear speaker terminals. Allow additional space for cables and ventilation.

Choose the model, then the edition

MNCx500 and M6525 offer Standard and Luxury editions. Standard is a completed amplifier for normal use; Luxury changes the signal-stage and surrounding parts package. M9040 offers Luxury and Ultra, with the same 1ET9040BA module platform in both.

Edition names describe the configuration within a model. Use the product page’s edition comparison to review the actual parts; do not use an edition name as a power rating or a guarantee of a particular sound.

If you are unsure about source output, gain or a demanding loudspeaker load, send the system details below before choosing a configuration.

SYSTEM MATCHING

Ask us which model fits your system

Send what you know. Speaker and source model names are enough to start if you do not have all the specifications.

  • Speaker model; sensitivity and minimum impedance if available
  • Room size, listening distance and usual listening level
  • Preamp or DAC model; XLR or RCA connection; maximum output voltage if known
  • Model and edition you are considering, or “please advise”
  • Destination country or region and required mains voltage: 110V or 220V
