Description
Who It Is For
MNCx500 is for stereo Hi-Fi users who want a compact power amplifier with clean transparency, a dark background, fast dynamics, and strong speaker control. It is also suitable for active crossover systems, near-field or desktop systems that need stronger drive capability, and home-theater front-channel expansion.
It is not positioned as an integrated amplifier. It has no volume control, no built-in DAC, and no source selection beyond the audio inputs provided on the rear panel.

Module And Power Platform
MNCx500 is built around the Hypex NCx500 OEM module. This module platform is one of the mature high-performance Class-D routes currently used in power amplifiers, and it is suitable for systems that need high efficiency, strong drive capability, and a low-noise background.
The complete amplifier is aimed at a clean, transparent, and controlled presentation: quiet background, quick transient attack, firm bass grip, and large dynamics that stay organized instead of becoming thick or blurred.
Maximum output power, both channels driven:
- 8 ohms: 380W x 2
- 4 ohms: 600W x 2
- 2 ohms: 600W x 2
MNCx500 is the higher rated-power choice in the compact stereo lineup. It is the better fit when the system needs more output reserve, stronger impact, and tighter control at higher playback levels.
Maroon Audio Implementation
The core platform of MNCx500 is the Hypex NCx500 OEM module. Maroon Audio is responsible for the chassis layout, power-supply integration, signal-stage implementation, internal wiring, assembly, and final testing.
We do not use clone modules, recycled modules, or uncertain-source marketplace boards. For this type of Class-D power amplifier, module source, power-supply source, internal layout, terminal quality, and assembly consistency all affect long-term ownership. MNCx500 uses a functionally separated internal layout, keeping the amplifier modules, main supply, signal-stage auxiliary supply, signal-stage circuitry, and rear-panel wiring organized clearly inside the chassis. The goal is not decorative complexity, but a stable and practical stereo power amplifier built around genuine modules, reliable power supply, and a clear signal path.

Power Supply And Internal Layout
MNCx500 uses a Hypex SMPS1200 main switching power supply for the amplifier modules. Around the main platform, Maroon Audio integrates dedicated auxiliary regulation for the signal stage according to the selected edition.
The Standard Edition already includes an auxiliary signal-stage power supply with a custom 35VA PCB-shielded toroidal transformer and TPS7A4701/3301-based staged LDO regulation. The Luxury Edition further upgrades the surrounding supply implementation, key components, main power filtering, main power wiring, and op amps. These are completed-amplifier configuration differences, not a DIY modification path.

Standard Edition And Luxury Edition
Standard Edition is the main practical configuration, but it is not a half-finished or DIY-only version. It is assembled, configured, and tested as a finished amplifier, and it can be used directly in a normal system without opening the chassis, changing jumpers, or replacing parts.
Its value is twofold. First, it keeps the core platform: Hypex NCx500 OEM modules, Hypex SMPS1200 main supply, custom 35VA PCB-shielded auxiliary toroidal transformer, TPS7A4701/3301 LDO-regulated signal-stage supply, and the Maroon Audio first-stage signal buffer. Second, it leaves controlled flexibility for experienced users, such as the second-stage DIP8 buffer position that is bypassed by default with no op amp installed.
Luxury Edition is based on the same amplifier platform, but it is closer to a fully upgraded configuration completed by Maroon Audio before delivery. It is not just a few visible parts changed on top of the Standard Edition; the surrounding signal-stage supply, key components, main power filtering, main power wiring, and op amps are upgraded together. Compared with the Standard Edition’s flexibility, Luxury Edition is the mature-tuning and ready-upgraded direction for users who want less later experimentation.
The two-channel Luxury Edition uses four Sparkos Labs SS2590 discrete op amps in their native 6-pin long-leg package, without adapter boards. Together with the dedicated linear auxiliary supply, six-layer immersion-gold signal-stage PCB, and custom PTFE-insulated 6N single-crystal copper main power wiring, Luxury Edition is intended for users who want a higher completed configuration with less later experimentation.

Inputs And Functions
Each channel provides XLR balanced and RCA single-ended inputs, selected by the rear-panel input switch. XLR is recommended when the rest of the system supports it.
High/low gain selection helps match different source output levels and speaker sensitivities. Low gain is usually more suitable for systems with higher source output or higher noise-sensitivity; high gain is more suitable when the source output is lower or more overall gain is needed.
Bridge Mode combines the two channels into one mono output and requires more careful attention to speaker impedance and wiring. Bi-Amp Mode can be used with speakers that have separate high/low binding posts; the original speaker jumper plates must be removed before use. Check the wiring method, load impedance, and user manual requirements before using these modes.

FAQ
Does it include volume control?
No. MNCx500 is a pure power amplifier and should be used with a preamp, a DAC with volume control, or another source with volume adjustment.
Can both XLR and RCA be used?
Yes. Each channel provides XLR balanced and RCA single-ended inputs, selected by the rear-panel input switch. XLR is recommended when available.
Can 110V and 220V switch automatically?
No. Choose the correct input voltage before shipment.
What is the buffer and op-amp difference between Standard Edition and Luxury Edition?
In simple terms, MNCx500 uses a Maroon Audio signal buffer before the NCx500 module. Standard Edition ships with the first-stage fixed TI OPA2828 buffer enabled by default, working with the complete amplifier’s high/low gain setting. This first stage is part of the factory default configuration for normal performance and is not recommended to be bypassed by ordinary users. The second stage is a reserved DIP8 dual-op-amp position. It can be enabled or bypassed with jumpers, and it is bypassed by default with no op amp installed. In the factory-default state, it does not participate in the signal path and should not be understood as a factory-loaded gain stage. The gain values listed on this page are factory-default values.
This means Standard Edition can be used directly as a finished amplifier. The user does not need to open the chassis for normal use. The second-stage buffer position is kept for experienced users who may want to try suitable DIP8 dual op amps later, not as a required setup step. In other words, the flexibility is an added value, not a barrier to use. If the second-stage op amp is installed, DIP8 orientation, voltage rating, and supply-current suitability must be confirmed first. As a practical limit, keep plug-in op-amp current on the stereo version within about 100 mA per supply rail per op amp. Opening the chassis, changing jumpers, replacing op amps, or soldering parts may cause incorrect orientation, unsuitable supply conditions, noise, distortion, or product damage. If this configuration section is difficult to understand, we strongly recommend keeping the factory default setting. User modifications not confirmed by Maroon Audio are not covered as normal warranty use.
Luxury Edition uses four Sparkos Labs SS2590 discrete op amps in their native 6-pin long-leg package, without adapter boards. Op-amp orientation, supply voltage, and supply current must be correct, so related changes are not treated as normal user operation. Please confirm any special op-amp configuration before ordering.
Do Standard Edition and Luxury Edition have the same power?
Both versions are based on the same Hypex NCx500 platform and share the same power specifications. Standard Edition already includes an independent signal-stage auxiliary supply and LDO regulation, and can be used directly as a finished amplifier. Luxury Edition mainly upgrades supply implementation, key components, filtering, main power wiring, and four Sparkos Labs SS2590 native 6-pin discrete op amps.
How should I choose between MNCx500 and M6525?
MNCx500 has higher rated power, which is useful when the system needs more output reserve and stronger speaker control. If you do not need the extra power reserve, M6525 is also an excellent choice; it leans more toward resolution and fine detail. This is only a relative difference between these two Maroon Audio models: compared with many traditional power amplifiers, both offer richer resolution and detail.
